The light, humidity, and temperature combination sensor provides all three sensors as different outputs. Any of the three outputs can be used to trigger Abode automations. This tutorial provides instructions for using your multi-sensor in Abode automations.
After you’ve installed your sensor, you will see three readings shown below. If you do not see all three readings, please remove the cover on your sensor and press the button, this will force the sensor to send all readings to the gateway.
High and Low Temperature / Humidity Alarms
The temperature and humidity sensors can be used to create High and Low Temperature alarms. When these automations trigger, your Abode siren will go off playing short bursts and you will receive email and push notifications. The alarm can be disabled by pressing the standby button on your web or mobile app.
In this example, we will create a high temperature alarm when the temperature in the house is greater than 80 degrees.
- Create an Abode Status Automation
- Select Device Status, then select the sensor from the drop-down menu
- Select which sensor you’d like to use to trigger the automation, then select your criteria and your threshold. For this example, we’ll select Temperature >> Greater than and enter 80 degrees into the input field.
- On the Actions screen, select the sensor and then the alarm that you want to trigger from the drop-down menu.
- Finish creating the automation by providing a name.
Triggering Actions Based on Sensors
You can also create Abode automations to trigger actions when one of these sensors is above or below a certain threshold.
In this example, "turn on my dehumidifier for 30 minutes when the humidity in my house is greater than 55%". To do this, you would need to have the humidifier plugged into a power switch that I can be controlled by Abode automations but if gives you an idea of the additional automations you can create.
- Create an Abode Status Automation
- Select Device Status, then select the sensor from the drop-down menu
- Select which sensor you’d like to use to trigger the automation, then select your criteria and your threshold. For this example, we’ll select Humidity >> Greater than and enter 55 in the input field.
- On the Actions screen, select the “Dehumidifier” and then switch it on for 30 minutes
- Finish creating the automation by providing a name.
