As of November 2017, you can integrate your Philips Hue light bulbs with your abode Home. Integrating your Philips Hue bulbs allows them to be controlled from your abode Web and Mobile Apps as well as from the abode Automation Engine.
To enable fast and accurate control of the Philips Hue bulbs, the light bulbs connect directly to the abode Hub via the ZigBee network.
As you can see in the screenshots below, you can control the Colors and Whites of Philips Hue bulbs attached to your abode Home via the abode Web and Mobile Apps.
You can also create abode automations which allow you to set light bulbs to a certain color based on other events in your abode home.
Choosing Hub
Please note that a Philips Hue can ONLY be connected to one controller at a time. This means you will need to decide whether you want to connect a light bulb to the Philips Hue Bridge or to the abode Gateway. If you chose to connect the Philips Hue to the abode Gateway, you will not be able to use other third-party integrations that worked with the Philips Hue hub.
Adding your Philips Hue to the abode Gateway
Connecting a Philips Hue bulb to your abode Home can be tricky if the bulb has been previously connected to a Philips Hue Bridge. If the Philips Hue that you are connecting has been connected to a Philips Hue Bridge, please see
Connecting a New Philips Hue (never connected to a Philips Hue Bridge)
To connect a New Philips Hue to the abode Gateway…..

- In the Add Device dialog, click the Other Device Tab
- With your lamp / light turned OFF, Insert your Philips Hue bulb.
- Turn on the lamp / light
- In a couple of seconds, you’ll see the Philips Hue blink, hear the abode Gateway beep, and see RGB Dimmer show up in the Add Devices Dialog.
- Click Add Next to the Device and complete the Wizard to finish adding the bulb to Abode.
That’s it, your Philips Hue bulb is now connected to your abode Gateway!
Connecting a New Philips Hue (never connected to a Philips Hue Bridge)
Connecting a Philips Hue that was previously connected to a Philips Hue Bridget is very difficult.
Once the Philips Hue has been connected to another network, they are very hard to reset. If connected to a Philips Hue Bridge, you must reset the Philips Hue Bridge to reset all of the light bulbs.
Using Philips Hue light bulbs in abode Automations
***Please note, at the time of the release, there are still a couple of bugs with using RGB lights in automations. We are working to fix these issues and will release updates as the fixes are implemented and tested.
