Two-Factor Authentication adds additional security to your abode Home by requiring a code generated by the Google Authenticator App on your phone when logging in from a new device. For complete security, enable Two-Factor Authentication for each user account that has access to your abode system in your home.
You can see which accounts in your abode home are two-factor enabled by navigating to the Account >> General page. In the Users Section, where you can see all users associated with your abode Home, a padlock icon next to users’ names indicates two-factor authentication is enabled. This same information is available in the mobile app under Settings>>Manage users.
To enable Two-Factor Authentication:
- Go to abode Web App (https://my.goabode.com)
- Go to Account >> General
- In the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Enable
- Follow the Wizard to enable Two-Factor Authentication on your abode Home.
Note: Please save the backup code that was presented to you in the Two-Factor Authentication wizard. If you change phones or lose your phone, you'll need this backup code to log into your abode home. If you lose your backup code, please contact support@goabode.com for help resetting your Two-Factor Authentication Settings.
- Log out of your abode Web App and then log in again. After entering your username and password, you'll be required to enter your "Authenticator Passcode". Open your Google Authenticator app and find the passcode associated with your abode Account. Type this passcode into the abode Web App.
- Click the "Don't ask again on this device" checkbox if you do not want to be prompted each time you log into your abode Home from this device.
Note: To avoid being asked for a Authentication Key during an active alarm scenario, we recommend checking the "Don't ask again on this device" checkbox.
- Log out and then back into your abode Mobile App. Again, after entering your username and password, you'll be prompted to enter the "Authenticator Passcode" on your mobile device.
- Click the "Don't ask again on this device" checkbox if you do not want to be prompted each time you log into your abode Home from this device.
Note: To avoid being asked for a Authentication Key during an active alarm scenario, we recommend checking the "Don't ask again on this device" checkbox.
To disable Two-Factor Authentication:
- Log into the abode web app (https://my.goabode.com)
- Account >> General
- In the Two-Factor Authentication Section, click "Disable"
- Follow the wizard to disable Two-Factor Authentication on this account.
NOTE: This only disables Two-Factor Authentication on this user account. It does NOT disable it for all user accounts on the gateway.
