If you want to see how your system works during an alarm situation, it's easy to test. Familiarizing yourself with the sound of the siren is a good idea and testing will allow you to adjust any countdown timers you may have in place.
Follow the easy steps below to run your own tests.
(If you're self-monitoring, skip step #1)
- Contact the Monitoring Center at 800-558-7767 and request to be placed in Test Mode. The Monitoring Center will ask for your name and 4-digit passcode (that you would have established when you first set up your professional monitoring).
- From your mobile app or on a web browser at my.goabode.com, arm your system to either Home or Away mode. (Depending on your settings, the system may arm immediately or after a countdown timer)
- Once armed, initiate a test; i.e. open a door or window or step in front of a motion sensor. (Again, depending on your system settings, the alarm and siren may trigger immediately or after a countdown timer)
- Press Standby to disarm the system and stop the siren. Repeat as many times as needed.
At the end of the time requested, your system will return to live Monitoring. It's up to you how long you'd like to be in Test Mode. If you'd like to be removed from Test Mode earlier than the time specified, you can call and request to be placed back in Live mode.
