abode’s video-enabled devices are able to intelligently detect the presence of people to reduce unnecessary notifications and alert users only when there is a true cause for concern. To enable this feature on your camera(s), follow the steps outlined below:
- First, ensure that you are on the Standard or Pro Plan
- This feature is only available on these plans
- Navigate to the System Settings section of your account via the abode app
- Scroll to the bottom and check the Firmware version of your iota and Outdoor Smart Cam(s)
- Click “Install Updates” if eligible. If your cameras are up-to-date, do nothing
- Return to your Dashboard
- You should see a tile prompting you to enable Smart Detect, click Get Started
- Follow the on-screen prompts to enable on whichever eligible cameras you’d like
To Change Notifications:
- Go to Notifications
- Select Devices
- Select Smart Detect - Person under Cameras
- Update your notifications to your preferences
Want to disable this feature? Here’s how:
On Mobile
- Go to System Settings
- Select Smart Detect under Cameras
- Tap Person Detection
- Uncheck whichever cameras you’d like to disable Smart Detect on
On Desktop
- Click the device you want to disable this from on your dashboard
- Click Smart Detection
- Toggle to Off
- Click Save
