Understanding how your Abode home security system works

Written by James Raine

Abode keeps your home safe and makes it smarter. Your Abode system is built around a Hub that connects wirelessly to sensors, cameras, and accessories placed around your home. Every device works together so you stay protected at all times, whether you are at home or away.

To give your home complete protection, your system should combine several types of devices. Abode supports more sensor types than most security platforms, including door and window sensors, motion sensors, cameras, sirens, smoke sensors, water sensors, glass break sensors, and more.

TIP

You can start with a small kit and expand your system at any time by adding new devices from the Abode app. There are no contracts and no restrictions on how large your system can grow.

Choosing the right kit

Kit

Best for

Iota Kit

An all-in-one Hub with a built-in HD camera, motion sensor, 93dB siren, and two-way voice. Ideal if you want a single device that does everything right out of the box.

Smart Security Kit

A separate Security Hub plus a Mini Door/Window Sensor and Key Fob. Best if you want a discreet Hub that can be hidden away and a flexible, expandable starting point.

The same Security Hub package at a simpler entry level. Compatible with all the same Abode devices. Note: this Hub does not support Apple HomeKit.
