Two Factor Authentication

Adding an extra layer of security to your Abode account

Written by James Raine

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second verification step when signing in from a new device. After entering your password, you will be asked for a one-time code generated by an authenticator app on your phone. Enable it for every user account that has access to your Abode system for the best security.

Enabling two-factor authentication

You will need a two-factor authentication app installed on your phone before you begin. Recommended options include Google Authenticator and Authy, both available free from your app store.

1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.

2. Tap your name to open your Profile settings.

3. Tap Two-Factor Authentication.

4. Enter your account password.

5. Copy the code or scan the barcode into your authenticator app.

6. Your authenticator app will generate a code. Copy it and paste it into the Authentication Key field in the Abode app. Tap Next.

7. Save the backup code in a secure place. You will need this if you lose access to your authenticator app.

8. Tap Done.

9. Sign out of the Abode app, then sign back in. You will now be asked for an Authenticator Passcode after entering your password. Enter the code from your authenticator app.

!

NOTE

If you lose your backup code and cannot access your authenticator app, contact support@goabode.com for help resetting your 2FA settings.

Disabling two-factor authentication

!

NOTE

Disabling 2FA only affects your own user account. It does not disable it for other users on the same Hub.

1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.

2. Tap your Profile.

3. Tap Two-Factor Authentication.

4. Tap Disable, then tap Done.
