Answers to the most common questions about your Abode Security Kit

What is included in the Abode Security Kit?

The kit includes a Security Hub, a Mini Door/Window Sensor, a Key Fob, an Abode window sticker, and all the cables and accessories needed for setup.

What do I need to set up my system?

You need an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, an AC power outlet, and a spare Ethernet port on your internet router. The Ethernet connection is only needed for initial setup.

Is the Security Kit Hub Apple HomeKit compatible?

No. The Security Kit Hub does not support Apple HomeKit. For HomeKit compatibility, look at the Smart Security Kit or Iota Kit.

Can I use other devices with the Security Kit Hub?

The Security Kit Hub works with all Abode AbodeRF security devices and with devices that integrate through supported third-party platforms such as Alexa, Google Nest, Google Home, Sonos, and Bose. The Hub does not support Z-Wave or Zigbee devices directly.

Does the Security Kit Hub have cellular backup?

Yes. The Hub has a SIM card slot and supports 4G cellular backup when used with a compatible Abode service plan.

I am having trouble removing the power cable from the Hub

The power cable has a secure locking fit. To remove it, make sure the fins on the plug are in the horizontal position, not the vertical locked position. Removing the cable will still feel firm and may require some side-to-side movement while pulling.

How do I upgrade to a new Hub?

Email support@goabode.com with the MAC address of your existing Hub and the MAC address of the new Hub. Both addresses are printed on the bottom of each device and start with "B0:C5:CA". The support team will transfer your profile. The new Hub must be online during the swap.

How do I customize Hub sounds?

1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.

2. Tap System Settings, then Sound Settings.

3. Adjust any sound setting. Tap Mute All Sounds to disable everything at once.

How do I set which devices are active in each mode?

1. In the Abode app, tap the Devices tab.

2. Tap the device you want to configure.

3. Under Choose When Sensor is Active, set your preference for each mode.

4. Tap Done.

How do I adjust the alarm duration?

1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.

2. Tap System Settings, then Sound Settings.

3. Tap Alarm Duration and set your preferred length.

How do I add additional devices?

1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.

2. Tap Add Device.

3. Select the device category and follow the prompts.

I am moving. How do I update my account?

If you are leaving your system for new occupants or want to change ownership, contact support@goabode.com. If you are moving into a home with an existing Abode system, the support team can provide activation instructions.
