The Abode Widget gives you one-tap access to system modes, device status, and camera images directly from your phone home screen or Today View, without opening the Abode app.
Setting up the Abode widget on iOS
Requires iOS 14 or iPadOS 15 or later.
1. On your iPhone or iPad home screen, swipe left to go to the Today View.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Edit.
3. Tap the grey + icon in the top left corner.
4. Search for and select Connected Life.
5. Choose from three available widget types: System Modes, Device Status, or Camera Image.
6. Tap Add Widget, then tap Done.
Editing a widget on iOS
1. Press and hold the widget to open the quick actions menu.
2. Tap Edit Widget.
3. Make your changes (for example, change the camera shown in the Camera Image widget).
4. Tap outside the widget to exit.
Moving a widget on iOS
1. Press and hold the widget to open the quick actions menu.
2. Tap Edit Home Screen.
3. Drag the widget to your preferred location. Drag it on top of another widget to create a stacked widget group.
Securing the widget on iOS
By default, the Today View is accessible on the iPhone lock screen, which means someone could arm or disarm your system without unlocking your phone. To prevent this:
1. Open iPhone Settings.
2. Tap Face ID and Passcode (or Touch ID and Passcode).
3. Enter your passcode.
4. Scroll down to Allow Access When Locked and disable Today View and Search.
After this change, your phone must be unlocked before the widget can be accessed.
Setting up the Abode widget on Android
1. Press and hold an empty area of your Android home screen.
2. Tap Widgets from the options that appear.
3. Find and select Abode from the list of widgets, then tap Add.
4. The System Modes widget will be added to your home screen. To resize it, press and hold it and drag the blue resizing dots.
