Slim Strip Door/Window Sensor

A low-profile sensor for doors and windows where a discreet look matters

Written by Cath Smith
Updated this week

The Slim Strip Door/Window Sensor is a thin, discreet strip that mounts along the door frame and detects opening and closing. When the door opens, the magnet separates from the sensor, sending an open signal to your Hub. When it closes, it sends a close signal. It's ideal for sliding doors, casement windows, and anywhere you want a clean, minimalist installation.

Before you start

The Slim Strip Sensor requires a gap of at least 0.25 inch (6mm) between the door and frame for the sensor body and magnet to fit properly. If your door or frame doesn't have this gap, consider the Mini Door Sensor or Recessed Door Sensor instead.

Installing your Slim Strip Sensor

Installation tips

• Minimum 0.25-inch (6mm) gap required between door and frame for installation

• Maximum gap between sensor body and magnet when door is closed: 0.50 inch (12.7mm)

• Avoid mounting near metal objects. They can interfere with the magnet

• Mount the sensor body on the fixed frame, not the moving door or window

• Apply the magnet parallel to the sensor body. See the diagram below

1. Remove the adhesive backing from the long sensor body and press it firmly onto the door frame or window frame.

2. Remove the adhesive backing from the magnet and press it onto the door or window.

3. When the door is closed, confirm the magnet aligns with the glossy area on the sensor body near the Pairing button.
