What cameras is Smart Detect Available on?
Smart Detect is available on the Abode Cam 2, Outdoor Smart Camera, Wireless Video Doorbell, and Iota.


Does this work within HomeKit?
Smart Detect does not work with Google Assistant at this time.


Does this work within Google Assistant?
Smart Detect does not work with Google Assistant at this time.


What plans is Smart Detect available on?
This is available on our Standard Plan and Pro Plan.


Can I turn this feature off?
Yes, you can. View the 'Enable Smart Detect for Each Camera' section below to determine which cameras have Smart Detect enabled and disabled.


Can I update the notifications I receive?
Yes, you can. View the 'Update Notifications Preference' section below.


Is this available in the UK?
Yes, it is!


Does anyone else have access to these recorded clips?
No, just like other recorded clips on your system this is limited to your viewing only.


Can person detection trigger the alarm?
No - you will get a notification of a person detected, but as the cameras can be positioned externally they will not sound the alarm by default.


Does this store and remember faces?
Smart Detect does not store data, images, or faces, only processing footage in real time.


Is this available in Canada?
Yes, it is!


Enable Smart Detect

Smart Detect requires your account to have either the Standard Plan or the Pro Plan active, and the feature is only available on Abode Cam 2, Outdoor Smart Camera, Wireless Video Doorbell, and Iota.


Update Camera Firmware

First verify that your camera is running the latest firwmare version.

  1. In the Abode App on your iOS or Android device, select the Menu (≡).

  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap "Check for Firmware Updates".

3. Click “Install Updates” if eligible. If your cameras are up-to-date then process to the steps below.


Enable Smart Detect for Each Camera

  1. In the Abode App on your iOS or Android device, select the Menu (≡).

  2. Tap "System Settings".

3. Tap "Smart Detect".

4. Within the Smart Detect settings, you can enable Person, Package, Pet, or any combination of the three for all of the cameras on your system.


These options can also be enabled within the Settings (gear icon) for each camera within the Devices tab of the Abode App.


Update Notifications Preference

  1. In the Abode App on your iOS or Android device, select the Menu (≡).

  2. Tap "Notifications".

  3. Tap "Devices".

4. Under Cameras category select the Smart Detection category you would like to update notifications for (Package, Person, and/or Pet).

5. Update your notifications to your preferences.
