Wide Angle Motion Camera

Pairing, installation, troubleshooting, and technical specifications

Written by Alex S

Equipped with the same features as the Abode Motion Sensor, this unit also includes a camera for visual verification. When your system is in Home or Away mode, the camera will automatically take three 640 x 480 photos and send them to your phone when motion is detected, letting you see what triggered an alarm.

NOTE

Due to a change in frequency used by the Wide Angle Motion Camera, newer hub models may not be compatible with the Wide Angle Motion Camera. If you have upgraded your Hub, and the Wide Angle Motion camera will not pair, you will need to look at upgrading your Motion Camera to a new Motion Sensor or Abode Camera.

Pairing Guide

1. In the Abode app, navigate to Settings and select "Add a New Device."

2. Select "Wide Angle Motion Camera."

3. Remove the cover screw to access the battery compartment and insert batteries into the motion camera.

4. Press and hold the function button until the LED indicator flashes one time, then release the button.

5. The motion camera should now appear in the app.

6. Add the device and name it.

If pairing is unsuccessful, loosen the cover screw and remove all batteries. Press the function button 4 times to reset the device, then reinstall the batteries and repeat the pairing steps above.

Installation Guide

Once the motion camera is paired with the hub, install it in a location of your choosing. Keep the following in mind:

• Detection beams point at a 10-degree angle and give a detection range of 35 x 35 feet when mounted 6 to 7 feet above the floor.

• Do not aim the camera directly at an entry door or a window where bright sunlight might cause a poor image or trigger the motion sensor.

• If possible, position the device so that an intruder would move across the field of view, not directly toward it.

• Mount in the middle of a flat wall to provide the most coverage.

• Avoid pointing the motion sensor at heat sources such as fireplaces, heating and AC vents.

• If using the corner mount bracket, drill two holes inside the bracket where the dimples are located and use mounting screws for best results.

The motion camera comes with two-sided tape on the back for flat-wall mounting, and a clip-on corner mount wedge for corner installations. Clean the surface with a non-oil-based cleanser before mounting.

Troubleshooting

If pairing is unsuccessful, loosen the cover screw and remove all batteries. Press the function button two or three times to reset the device, reinstall the batteries, and repeat the pairing steps.

If the motion camera has already been paired and then deleted, you must follow the reset steps above before re-pairing.

You can adjust the motion camera's sensitivity by adjusting the jumpers on the circuit board.
