Equipped with the same features as our Motion Sensor, this unit is equipped with a camera. Visual Verification allows you to see what triggered an alarm. The motion camera will automatically take three 640 x 480 photos and quickly send them to your phone when your system is in Home or Away mode.

Notice

Due to a change in the frequency used by our Wide Angle Motion Camera, some older models of our hubs are not compatible with the newer motion cameras.

If you purchased your hub prior to October of 2017, your hub may not be compatible. We apologize for any inconvenience and encourage you to reach out to our Support team for further assistance.

Pairing Guide

Follow these steps to pair your motion camera using the Abode App:

  1. In the Abode App, navigate to Settings and then select Add a New Device.

  2. Select Wide Angle Motion Camera.

  3. Remove the cover screw to access the battery compartment and insert batteries into the motion camera.

  4. Press in the function button and hold it in until the LED indicator flashes one time and then release the button.

  5. The motion camera should now be listed in the mobile app.

  6. Add the device and name it.

  7. That’s it! Your camera is now paired with your Abode system!

If pairing the motion camera with the hub is unsuccessful, loosen the cover screw and remove all of the batteries. Press in the function button 4 times to reset the device and then reinstall the battery. Then repeat the pairing process by using the mobile app as indicated above.

Installation Guide

Now that the motion camera is paired with the hub, it’s time to install it in a location of your choosing. Here's a few notes:

  • The detection beams point at a 10° angle and are designed to give a detection range of 35 x 35 feet when mounted at 6 to 7 feet above the floor.

  • Do not aim the motion camera directly at an entry door or a window where bright sunlight might cause a poor image or trigger the motion sensor.

  • If possible, locate the device so that an intruder would move across the motion sensors field of view, not towards it.

  • In the middle of a flat wall to provide the most coverage.

  • Avoid pointing the motion sensor at sources of heat such as fire places, heating and AC vents, etc.

  • The PIR Cameras are designed to be mounted on a flat surface to take advantage of the wide-angle lens, so mounting it in the center of the wall will offer the most coverage. Although the sensor comes with an optional corner mount bracket, the sensor is heavy and the corner mount bracket 2-sided tape may not provide enough strength to prevent it from falling and breaking the sensor, and some painted surfaces does not stick well to 2-sided tape.

  • We recommend that if the corner bracket has to be used, then you should drill two holes inside the corner bracket where the two dimples are located, then use mounting screws to screw it into the corner. Loosen the bottom screw on the sensor and remove the back cover, then you will notice on the back cover there are three square openings for the corner brackets plastic clips to clip into. Align the back cover with the three corner brackets plastic clips and the back should snap into place holding it securely to the corner.

Once you select the location to mount your motion camera, clean the surface with a suitable non-oil- based cleanser. The motion camera comes with two-sided tape on the back for mounting on a wall and a clip-on corner mount wedge when mounting it in a corner. When using the corner mount, it must be in full contact with the walls and the surface must be clean.

Troubleshooting

If pairing the motion camera with the hub is unsuccessful, loosen the cover screw and remove all of the batteries. Press in the function button two or three times to reset the device and then reinstall the battery. Then repeat the pairing process by using the web or mobile app as indicated above.

If the motion camera has already been paired with the hub and it was deleted, you must follow the steps above to reset the motion camera and re-pair it with the hub.

You can adjust the motion camera's sensitivity by adjusting the jumpers on the circuit board.
