This guide walks you through everything from unboxing to a fully operational system. Your included Mini Door/Window Sensor and Key Fob come pre-paired, so once your Hub is connected you are ready to start protecting your home.
Before you start
• A smartphone or tablet running iOS or Android with the Abode app installed
• An AC power outlet near your internet router
• A spare Ethernet port on your router for initial setup
• Your Activation Key card from inside the box

Setting up your Hub
1. Remove the Hub from the box and place it near your internet router.
2. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet and connect it to the Hub.
3. Connect the Ethernet cable from an open port on your router to the Hub.
4. On the back of the Hub, slide the switch down to activate the battery backup.
5. Open the Abode app and follow the on-screen setup process. Enter your Activation Key when prompted to link the Hub to your account.
✓ | TIP Once setup is complete you can move the Hub to Wi-Fi if needed. Place the Hub in a central location in your home for the best wireless range to all your sensors. |
LED status guide

LED state | What it means |
Off (steady) | Standby mode, no issues |
Soft red, flashing | Armed in Home mode |
Soft red, solid | Armed in Away mode |
Bright red, solid | Alarm in memory. Arm then disarm to reset |
Bright red, flashing | System is actively alarming |
Orange, solid | Fault detected. Check the app Timeline for details |
Arming and disarming your system
Your Abode system has three modes:
Mode | What is active |
Away | All door/window sensors and interior motion sensors. Use this when everyone leaves the home. |
Home | Door/window sensors only. Interior motion sensors are off. Use this when you are inside. |
Standby | Intrusion sensors are off. Environmental sensors such as water and CO remain active. |
To arm the system, open the Abode app, go to the Dashboard tab, and select the mode you want.
Entry and exit delays
Delay | How it works |
Exit delay | Gives you time to leave after arming. Default is 1 minute. Adjust in Menu, System Settings, Time Delay. |
Entry delay | Gives you time to disarm after entering an armed home. Default is 1 minute. If you do not disarm in time, the alarm triggers. |
Adding more devices
1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.
2. Tap Add Device.
3. Select the correct category, choose the device, and follow the prompts.
Customizing Hub sounds
1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.
2. Tap System Settings, then Sound Settings.
3. Adjust sounds as needed. Tap Mute All Sounds to disable all Hub sounds at once.
Setting up CUE automations
CUE lets you automate actions based on your system state, sensor events, or schedules. To get started, tap CUE at the bottom of the Abode app, then tap the + button in the Automations tab. A full guide is available in the Abode app.
