Abode Arming Modes

Choosing the right mode for every situation

Written by Cath Smith

Your Abode system has three arming modes: Away, Home, and Standby. Each mode determines which sensors are active, giving you the right level of protection whether you are out, at home, or simply want your environmental sensors running in the background.

The three arming modes

Mode

What is active

Away

All door/window sensors and all interior motion sensors are active. Use this when everyone has left the home.

Home

Door/window sensors are active. Interior motion sensors are turned off so you can move freely inside. Use this when you are at home but want perimeter protection.

Standby

Intrusion protection is off. Door/window sensors and motion sensors are inactive. Environmental sensors such as water/flood sensors and CO sensors remain active at all times.

TIP

You can customize which individual devices are active in each mode from the Devices tab in the Abode app. Tap the device, then set your preference under Choose When Sensor is Active.

Entry and exit delays

Delays give you time to leave your home after arming and time to disarm after entering. Both are set to 1 minute by default and are adjustable in the Abode app under Menu, System Settings, Time Delay.

Delay

How it works

Exit delay

After arming your system while inside the home, the exit delay gives you time to leave before the system fully arms. The siren will not trigger during this window.

Entry delay

When your armed system detects a door opening, it starts the entry delay timer. If you do not disarm before the timer runs out, the alarm will trigger and the siren will sound.

How to arm and disarm

You can arm and disarm your system from several places:

• The Abode app on your iOS or Android device, smartwatch, or smart TV

• A Key Fob paired to your system

• A Keypad 2 paired to your system

• Voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant
