The Abode Lock is a smart deadbolt that you can control from the Abode app, automate with CUE, and operate with Amazon Alexa or Google Home. It works as a standalone device or paired with an existing Abode Hub. The lock includes a wireless keypad with fingerprint support so family members can enter without needing a phone or PIN.
Before you pair
The direction your deadbolt turns to lock determines how you must position the thumb lever before pairing. Get this right first to avoid having to reset and re-pair.
Door side | What to do before pairing |
Left side mounted (deadbolt turns counter-clockwise to lock) | Turn the thumb lever fully to the LEFT (counter-clockwise) before pairing |
Right side mounted (deadbolt turns clockwise to lock) | Turn the thumb lever fully to the RIGHT (clockwise) before pairing |
! | NOTE If you pair with the thumb lever in the wrong position, the lock will turn the wrong way in the app. Remove the lock from the app, factory reset it, set the lever to the correct position, then re-pair. |
Removing the front cover
You need to remove the front cover to insert the battery. Squeeze both sides of the front cover and push on the thumb lever. The cover will release from the lock body. It fits back on easily when you are ready.
Pairing as a standalone device (no Hub)
1. Charge the lock battery fully using a USB-C cable. The battery light turns solid blue when fully charged.
2. Download the Abode app and create a new account.
3. After verifying your account, select I have another device, then select Abode Lock.
4. Follow the in-app prompts to complete pairing.
Pairing to an existing Abode system

2. Open the Abode app and log in to your account.
3. Go to the Devices tab and tap the + button, then tap Add Device.
4. Tap Security Add-Ons, then select Abode Lock.

Using your Abode Lock
Locking the lock
• Lock from the Abode app with a single tap
• Lock via a CUE automation
• Lock manually by holding down any single numeric keypad button for approximately 5 seconds
• Lock with a key
! | NOTE Your PIN and fingerprint will only unlock the lock, not lock it. |
Auto Lock
The Auto Lock feature automatically locks the door after a set time. You can enable it and adjust the delay (10 seconds to 30 minutes) in the lock device settings in the Abode app.
Managing users, PINs, and fingerprints
Up to 10 users can be added to each lock. Each user can be set as a Permanent User, One-Time User, or Scheduled User. Each user can have an individual PIN and up to 5 stored fingerprints.
• Go to the lock device settings in the Abode app and tap Access Control to add or manage users
• Fingerprints are stored on the keypad. If the keypad is replaced or re-paired, all users, PINs, and fingerprints must be set up again
• Lock users do not need the Abode app installed — useful for family members without smartphones
✓ | TIP Both the account holder and the user need to be present to set up fingerprint access, as the account holder must authorize it and the user must scan their fingerprint on the keypad. |
