Setup Guide


1. Make sure you have the latest version of the Abode App installed on your mobile device.


2. Install the Abode Color Bulb into a lamp or light fixture and power the lamp ON. Once installed, the light switch will need to remain ON.

3. Open the Abode App and tap the three bars Menu on the to left corner of the screen, then tap +Add Device > Smart Home > Abode Color Bulb

4. The app will prompt you to enter the Wi-Fi network name and password for the network you wish to setup your bulb on. Please make sure the bulb will be installed in an area with a strong Wi-Fi signal.


5. The bulb will then begin linking with your Abode account. This may take up to 30 seconds. If your bulb begins pulsing red, it means that the Wi-Fi connection was not successful. We recommend checking your Wi-Fi settings (name and password), then start the process over.

6. Enter a name for your bulb (e.g. Office Lamp)


7. If a new firmware version is available for your bulb during setup it will update automatically at this time. Make sure the bulb remains connected to power during this step. The bulb will pulse orange while the firmware us updating.


8. Your new bulb is ready to use and can now be controlled via the Abode App, CUE automations, and Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integrations.


Status Color Guide

Your Color Bulb may pulse one of these three colors indicating its current status:


Pulsing Blue - ready to pair to Wi-Fi
Pulsing Orange - firmware update in progress
Pulsing Red - Wi-Fi connection error


Controlling the Bulbs

Currently for total control of the bulbs, the Abode App must be used, and Alexa and Google Assistant for turning them On and Off.


Ways to control Color Bulbs:

  • Manually via the Abode App

  • Automations created with CUE in Abode App (Standard or Pro Plan required)

  • Voice commands via Amazon Alexa (learn more about setting up Abode x Alexa integration here)

  • Voice commands via Google Assistant (learn more about setting up Abode x Google Assistant integration here)

Factory Resetting

First, delete the bulb from your Abode App in the Devices menu. To factory reset the bulb, manually turn the bulb on and off three times at the switch level (leaving the bulb ON in the Abode App). The bulb will start to pulse blue once factory reset, and is now ready to re-paired to an Abode account.
