Integrating your Philips Hue bulbs with Abode allows them to be controlled from the Abode app and through CUE Automations. Thanks to the Zigbee radio built into Abode hubs, Philips Hue bulbs connect directly to the Abode hub with no need for a separate Hue bridge. For example: create a CUE automation that turns on your front porch and foyer Hue bulbs when you arrive home in the evening.
Important: One Controller at a Time
! | NOTE A Philips Hue bulb can only be connected to one controller at a time. If you connect it to Abode, you will not be able to use other third-party integrations that rely on the Philips Hue Bridge. If your bulbs have previously been connected to a Philips Hue Bridge, you must remove them from the bridge and factory reset both the bridge and the bulbs before pairing with Abode. |
Connecting a New Philips Hue Bulb
Use this process for bulbs that have never been connected to a Philips Hue Bridge.
1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.
2. Tap "Add Device."
3. Under Other, tap "Third Party Devices."
4. With your lamp or light fixture turned off, insert your Philips Hue bulb.
5. Turn the lamp or light fixture on at the switch.
6. Within a few seconds, the Philips Hue bulb will blink, the Abode hub will beep, and "RGB Dimmer" will appear in the Add Devices dialog.
7. Tap "Add" next to the device and complete the setup guide. If you have more than one bulb, each must be paired individually.
Connecting a Bulb Previously Paired to a Philips Hue Bridge
Connecting a Philips Hue bulb that was previously connected to a Philips Hue Bridge is more complex. The bulb must be reset via the bridge before it can pair with a new controller.
Reset the Philips Hue Bridge to reset all connected bulbs. Refer to the instructions provided by Philips for resetting your bridge and bulbs, then return to the steps above to pair with your Abode system.
Usage Guide
With your Philips Hue bulb paired to Abode, you can turn it on and off, dim it, and change its color from the Devices tab. For a fully hands-free setup, pair your bulbs with other Abode devices and CUE Automations.
