Your homeowners insurance provider may require a monitoring certificate to confirm that your home is equipped with a professionally monitored alarm system. This certificate can qualify you for an insurance discount. You can download it directly from the Abode app once your Pro Plan is active.
! | NOTE You must have an active Pro Plan with professional monitoring enabled before a certificate can be generated. The certificate download is only accessible to the master user login. Linked users and guest users cannot download it. |
How to download your monitoring certificate
1. Open the Abode app and tap the Menu icon.
2. Tap your name to open your Profile.
3. Tap "Download Certificate".
4. Save or share the certificate with your insurance provider.
What the certificate covers
The monitoring certificate can cover the following types of protection:
β’ Burglary protection
β’ Smoke alarm protection (if applicable, see below)
! | NOTE The monitoring certificate covers burglary and smoke alarms only. No other alarm types are listed on the certificate. |
Adding fire protection to your certificate
If you have paired one or more First Alert Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors (model ZCOMBO) with your Hub and would like fire protection added to your certificate, the Abode support team can make this update for you.
β | TIP Fire protection can only be added to the certificate if a First Alert ZCOMBO detector is actively paired with your Hub. The support team will verify this before updating the certificate. |
To request this update:
1. Email the support team at support@goabode.com and let them know you would like fire protection added to your monitoring certificate.
2. The support team will check your Hub to confirm the ZCOMBO detector is paired and functioning.
3. If confirmed, they will update your certificate to include fire protection and notify you when it is ready to download.
Notice for Nest Protect users
! | NOTE The Nest Protect Smoke and CO sensor does not qualify as a 24-hour monitored fire protection device and cannot be added to your monitoring certificate. This is because Nest requires the user to manually verify that a Nest Protect fire alarm is real before the monitoring service receives the signal and dispatches the fire department. As a result, it does not meet the requirements for monitored fire protection. For a qualifying smoke and CO detector, see the First Alert Z-Wave Smoke/CO Detector Guide. |
