Abode integrates with the First Alert Z-Wave Smoke/CO Detector to enhance your whole-home protection. Once integrated, smoke and carbon dioxide alarms initiated by the First Alert device can trigger Abode alarms--including dispatching the proper authorities for users on the Pro Plan--and CUE automations.

Setup Guide

According to First Alert, you only have 30 seconds (from step #4 below) to pair the sensor once the battery is inserted and the tray is pushed in, so please read the directions and be prepared to move through the steps as swiftly as possible.


First, enable the exclusion mode for Z-wave devices. Prepare for Pairing or exclusion in the abode app:


Go to Devices > Tap Add device > Third Party Devices > Z-wave exclusion tool

At Step 1 of Z-wave Exclusion (on Abode app) follow the steps below for EXCLUSION.


โ€‹EXCLUSION

  1. Slide battery door open.

  2. Remove and re-insert batteries checking the correct orientation.

  3. Press and hold the test button. Keep it held down as you slide the
    battery drawer closed. You may then release the button (AFTER FIRST SINGLE BEEP IS HEARD)

  4. Tap DONE on abode app. You should see Step 2 shows two excluded devices. CO2 alarm, CO detector.

  5. Tap DONE on abode app again. You should see Z-wave Pairing page.

Next, follow the below steps below for INCLUSION

  1. Slide battery door open.

  2. Press and hold the test button. Keep it held down as you slide the
    battery drawer closed. You may then release the button. (AFTER FIRST SINGLE BEEP IS HEARD)

  3. If successful, the app will prompt (with a 15 second timer) for PIN code (located on the back of the alarm). Enter PIN code and Tap CONFIRM CODE.

  4. After up to 1 minute the Abode App will ask you to name the device to complete pairing.
