If you want to see how your system works during an alarm situation it's easy to test.

Familiarising yourself with the sound of the siren and alarm verification process is a good idea, and testing will allow you to adjust any countdown timers you may have in place.


Follow the easy steps below to run your own tests:


If you're self-monitoring (not on a plan) skip step #1

  1. Contact the Monitoring Center at 1(800) 558-7767 and request to be placed in Test Mode. The Monitoring Center will ask for your name and 4-digit Monitoring PIN (that you established when you first set up your professional monitoring. Learn more here). At the end of the time requested, your system will return to live monitoring. It's up to you how long you'd like to be in Test Mode. If you'd like to be removed from Test Mode earlier than the time specified, you can call and request to be placed back in Live mode.

  2. Once your account is in Test Mode, from the Abode App arm your system to either Home or Away mode.

  3. Once your system has been armed initiate a test that would trigger an alarm, such as opening a door or window that has a door sensor installed, or stepping in front of a motion sensor.

  4. In the Abode App disarm your system to Standby mode and disable the alarm. Repeat as many times as needed.
