Google Assistant Guide

You can control your Abode system and compatible connected devices via Google Assistant. Arm and disarm your system, view live camera video, control locks and lights, and check on the status of your doors and windows.

1. Open the Google Home app on your iOS or Android device.

2. On the Home tab, tap "Add" in the top left corner.

3. Tap "Set up Device."

4. Tap "Have something already set up?"

5. Search for and select "Abode" from the list.

6. Follow the steps to complete setup. Once sign-in is successful, you will be directed back to the Google Home app where you can assign rooms to your devices.

A voice code is required for security-sensitive commands such as disarming your system, unlocking doors, and opening garage doors. You can set or change your voice code in the Abode app under Integration settings.

Can Google Assistant announce when doors and windows open or close?

Not currently. Abode will enable this when Google adds the functionality to the Smart Home API.

Does this work with all Abode cameras?

Yes.

Can I use two-way voice on an Abode camera through Google Assistant?

No. Two-way voice must be done through the Abode app.

Can I record video clips using Google Assistant?

No. Clips are recorded automatically when an alarm is triggered, by an automation you define, or manually in the app.

Can I connect a device that works with Google Assistant but not Abode to my Abode system?

No. Only devices listed on the Abode compatibility page can be paired with your Abode system.
