This guide explains how to add a Z-Wave smart lock to your Abode system. Check the Abode compatible devices list to confirm your lock is supported. An example use case: automatically lock your doors when the last mobile phone leaves your home zone, and lock any unlocked doors at sunset.
Verify compatibility by confirming your lock model is in the Abode compatibility guide. For example, the Kwikset SmartCode 916 Z-Wave Plus is a verified compatible lock.

Troubleshooting
Lock will not pair with the Abode system
Factory reset your lock before attempting to pair it. Also verify your lock is on the Abode compatibility list. Abode is compatible only with select Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus locks. Locks using Zigbee, Wi-Fi, or other protocols are not supported.
Lock is not responding to automations or manual actions
Many smart locks drain batteries quickly. Check the battery level on your lock. For locks that use standard batteries, use the highest quality alkaline batteries available.
Lock constantly goes offline and online
A number of smart locks have a relatively weak Z-Wave communication module. If you find that the lock is regularly going offline and online, you may need to:
1. Relocate your Abode hub closer to the lock.
2. Boost the Z-Wave signal from the lock by locating a device (such as a Z-Wave power switch) close to the lock.
