Dome Water Main Shut-Off Guide

Integrate the Dome DMWV1 with your Abode system to prevent water damage

Written by Alex S

The Dome Water Main Shut-Off (DMWV1) integrates with Abode via Z-Wave and can automatically shut off your water main when a leak is detected. Example use case: create a CUE automation that shuts off your water main and sends a push notification to your phone when an Abode Water Leak Sensor detects a leak.

Setup Guide

1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.

2. Tap "Add Device."

3. Under Other, tap "Third Party Devices."

4. Press the Dome power/pair button quickly 3 times. The valve will close.

5. Press the power/pair button again quickly 3 times. The valve will open and should be recognized in the app. This may take several attempts. Repeat steps 4 and 5 as needed.

6. Once the device appears in the app, follow the in-app setup guide to complete setup. Refer to the instructions included with your DMWV1 for proper installation and plumbing details.

Usage Guide

With the DMWV1 paired to Abode, you can open or close it on command from the Devices tab. For a fully automated setup, pair the water main shut-off with other Abode devices and CUE Automations.

Troubleshooting

The device needs to be reset

The LED indicator should be blinking constantly before being added to the system. If it is not blinking, reset your device by powering it on and pressing and holding the power button until the LED starts to blink. Then try adding it again.

The device is out of range

Your shut-off valve may be too far from your Abode hub to pair. Try bringing the device closer or adding a Z-Wave signal extender to boost Z-Wave coverage, then try again.

The pairing button rhythm is not working

When adding the Water Main Shut-Off, the power/pair button must be triple-tapped at a specific rhythm: approximately 3 taps per second. If the rhythm is off, the device will not pair. If done correctly, the LED will stop blinking and remain on (valve closed) or turn off (valve open). Keep trying until the pairing succeeds.
