Before you start
• A smartphone or tablet running iOS or Android with the Abode app installed
• An AC power outlet near your internet router
• A spare Ethernet port on your router for initial setup
• Your Activation Key card from inside the box. You will need this to link the Hub to your account
✓ | TIP Keep hold of the Activation Key card throughout the setup process. It is printed with a unique code that links your Hub to your Abode account. Without it, you will need to contact support to recover your code. |
Setting up your Iota Hub
1. Remove the Iota from the box and place it near your internet router.
2. Plug the supplied AC power adapter into a wall outlet and connect it to the Iota.
3. Connect the supplied Ethernet cable to an open port on your router and plug the other end into the Iota.
4. On the bottom of the Iota, push the switch forward to activate the battery backup. This keeps your system running during brief power outages.
5. Download and install the Abode app on your iOS or Android device.
6. Open the app and follow the on-screen setup process. You will be guided through creating an account and entering your Activation Key to connect your Hub.
! | NOTE Your included Mini Door/Window Sensor and Key Fob are already paired to the Iota. You do not need to pair them again. Simply install them in your preferred locations. |

Using your Iota system
Adding more devices
1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.
2. Tap Add Device.
3. Select the correct category and choose the device you want to add.
4. Follow the in-app prompts to complete pairing.
Moving the Iota to Wi-Fi
1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.
2. Tap Hub Internet Connection.
3. Select your Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and tap Connect.
✓ | TIP Once switched to Wi-Fi you can move the Iota to any location in your home. Ethernet gives the most reliable connection, so only switch to Wi-Fi if you need to reposition the Hub away from your router. |
Customizing Hub sounds
1. In the Abode app, tap the Menu icon.
2. Tap System Settings, then Sound Settings.
3. Adjust individual sounds or tap Mute All Sounds to disable everything at once.
Adjusting Iota motion sensor sensitivity
1. In the Abode app, tap the Devices tab.
2. Tap the Iota Motion device.
3. Under Motion Sensor Sensitivity, adjust to your preferred level.
4. Tap Done when finished.
Adjusting Iota camera streaming quality
If your video stream is slow to start or stutters, you may need to reduce the streaming quality to suit your available bandwidth.
1. In the Devices tab, find and tap your Iota camera.
2. Tap the Settings gear icon, then Advanced Settings.
3. Under Streaming Bandwidth, adjust the slider between Low, Medium, and High. You can also reduce video quality from 1080p to 720p.
